Yoga Nidra for Complete Relaxation & Stress Relief

What is Yoga Nidra?

In
 a nutshell, Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing, healing and empowering form of guided meditation, done lying down. No yoga experience is needed for this deeply enriching practice. The word Nidra means sleep, however it is far from the unconscious, "checked out" version of sleep you might think of normally. On the contrary, Yoga Nidra is actually a state of consciousness in which the practitioner is deeply relaxed, nearing sleep, yet remains awake and aware.

What happens in Yoga Nidra?

Described as “dynamic sleep,” the Yoga Nidra practice allows the body to deeply relax while the mind stays inwardly alert. ... Yoga Nidra guides practitioners into the “hypnagogic state”—the threshold between alpha and theta waves—the knife's edge where the body “sleeps” while the mind is lucid.

What is the difference between Yoga Nidra and meditation?

Yoga Nidra is for systematically relaxing the body and mind while maintaining awareness. It's done on the floor on your back for the best effects. Meditation is for training the mind using a particular point. It is done sitting up, spine tall to facilitate movement of prana.

What to expect:
We will start with breath work (pranayama) to help calm the mind and the body. Followed by gentle movement of the body (asana) that will release tension held deep inside the muscles. Then, move into deep restorative rest called Divine Sleep ® Yoga Nidra. Research has shown that a 20 minute practice of Yoga Nidra is equal to 3-4 hours of deep sleep.

Event is 2 hours.
